You watch their short intro videos, read their bios, and pick the one who feels right. Then you book a free 15-minute consult to see if it's a fit. No pressure, no rush.

No. We're not a therapy provider. We're a matching service that helps you find the right therapist. Your therapy happens directly with the therapist you choose — we just help you get there.

Do I have to answer every question?

Based on what you tell us — what you're going through, who you feel safe with, how you want to be supported, whether you prefer online or in-person, and what you can afford. We use those answers to find therapists whose expertise and approach align with what you need.

That's okay. You can come back and adjust your answers, or reach out and we'll help you find someone. There's no obligation to book with anyone. This is your process.

Can I browse all therapists instead of getting matched?

We believe matching leads to better outcomes than browsing, but we get that some people want to explore. You can always look at therapist profiles after getting your matches — and you can book a consult with anyone who feels right.

A 60-second video tells you more about a therapist than a page of bio text ever could. You can see their energy, their warmth, how they talk. That's everything when you're deciding who to open up to.

Do you accept insurance?

No. Truer Therapy is private pay only. All sessions are paid directly to your therapist. This means your therapist sets their own rates and you don't have to deal with insurance approvals or limitations.

Rates are set by each therapist and shown on their profile. You'll see pricing before you book. During the questionnaire, you can tell us your budget and we'll match you with therapists who fit — including those who offer sliding scale pricing.

Yes. Finding your matches and watching therapist videos is completely free. You only pay for your actual therapy sessions, and that goes directly to your therapist.

When you set your budget during the questionnaire, we'll show you therapists who offer sliding scale pricing. You're not limited by what you can pay — there are options for everyone.

Yes. Your questionnaire answers are used only to match you with therapists. We don't share your information with anyone except the therapist you choose to connect with. Your privacy is sacred.

Only if you choose to share them. The last question on the questionnaire — 'anything you want your therapist to know' — is shared with your match. Everything else stays with us for matching purposes only.

Do you store my health information?

No. We don't store your health records or therapy notes. Your sessions are between you and your therapist. We're just the bridge — we help you cross it, then we step back.

How do I join Truer Therapy as a therapist?

Go to our For Therapists page and click Join Truer Therapy. You'll create a profile, record a 60-second intro video, and set your rates and availability. We'll review your credentials and get you listed.

How much does it cost to be listed?

Therapists pay a monthly flat fee to be on the platform. No per-lead charges, no commission on sessions. You keep 100% of what you earn. Founding therapists lock in a lifetime rate across three waves: Wave 1 is $24.50/month for the first 200 therapists, Wave 2 is $29.40/month for the next 300, and Wave 3 is $34.30/month for the next 500. After all 1,000 founding spots are filled, the standard rate is $49/month. All tiers include the first month free.

Do I need to be licensed?

Yes. Truer Therapy operates in the United States, and all therapists must hold a valid, active license in the US state where they practice. International expansion is planned for the future. We verify credentials before listing.

Can I offer sliding scale pricing?

Yes. You set your own rates and can offer sliding scale pricing if you choose. During the questionnaire, users tell us their budget and we match them with therapists who fit — including those who offer sliding scale.

Do I have to record a video?

Yes. The intro video is what sets Truer apart. It's how someone decides if you're the one. It doesn't need to be perfect — it just needs to be you. We provide a script template and tips to make it easy.
