• Communication information including messages you send to therapists or clients through the platform, consult notes, and session feedback.
• Payment information processed securely through our payment provider Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our servers.

Information We Collect Automatically

• Device information including browser type, operating system, and device identifier.
• Usage information including pages visited, time spent on pages, features used, and actions taken.
• Cookies and similar technologies as described in the Cookies section below.

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account.
• Match clients with therapists based on intake questionnaire responses.
• Schedule and manage consultations and sessions.
• Process payments and manage subscriptions.
• Send appointment confirmations, reminders, and updates.
• Verify therapist credentials and licenses.
• Communicate with you about platform updates, changes, and support.
• Monitor and improve our services, features, and user experience.
• Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.

In these jurisdictions, we process your personal information based on your consent and as reasonably necessary to provide our services to you. Under applicable laws including PIPEDA in Canada, the Privacy Act 1988 in Australia, the Privacy Act 2020 in New Zealand, and the PDPA in Singapore, we obtain your consent at the time of collection and provide you with options to withdraw consent as described in Your Privacy Rights below. In the United States, we comply with applicable state privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act where applicable.

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With Therapists — When you are matched with a therapist or schedule a consultation, we share your name, email, intake notes you provide, and consultation details with that therapist.
• With Clients — When a therapist is matched with a client, we share the therapist display name, specialties, bio, photo, session rate, availability, and intro video. We do not share therapist personal contact information beyond what is displayed on the profile.
• With Service Providers — We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the platform, including Stripe for payment processing and Google for authentication and analytics. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
• For Legal Compliance — We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or government regulation, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Truer Therapy, our users, or others.
• Business Transfers — In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity, subject to the protections of this policy.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. After account closure, we retain records for the following periods:

• Client records including questionnaire responses and match data: retained for 3 years after account closure to allow re-matching if you return.
• Therapist records including license and verification data: retained for 7 years after account closure as required by professional licensing regulations.
• Consultation and booking records: retained for 7 years for dispute resolution and legal compliance.
• Payment records: retained for 7 years as required by tax and financial regulations.
• You may request earlier deletion of your data as described in Your Privacy Rights below, subject to legal retention requirements.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including: Encrypted data transmission using TLS and HTTPS protocols. Secure data storage with access controls limited to authorized personnel. Regular security assessments and monitoring. Staff training on data protection and privacy practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices. In the United States, we align our data handling practices with HIPAA security requirements for health-related information. Our platform does not provide medical treatment and is not a covered entity under HIPAA, but we voluntarily follow HIPAA-aligned security standards to protect sensitive information.

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve our platform. We use the following categories:

• Essential Cookies — Required for the platform to function, including authentication and session management. These cannot be disabled.

Truer Therapy operates across multiple countries. Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. When we transfer data outside your jurisdiction, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place: For transfers from the United Kingdom and Ireland, we rely on standard contractual clauses approved by the relevant authorities or other transfer mechanisms that provide adequate protection. For transfers from other jurisdictions, we comply with the cross-border data transfer requirements of your local privacy laws, including PIPEDA in Canada, the Privacy Act 1988 in Australia, the Privacy Act 2020 in New Zealand, and the PDPA in Singapore.

Truer Therapy is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at anchored@truer-therapy.com and we will take steps to delete such information. Minors aged 16 and 17 may use the platform with the consent of a parent or legal guardian in jurisdictions where permitted by law.

For therapists using our platform, we collect and process additional information: License verification data including license number, type, state, and verification status. We verify licenses with the appropriate licensing board in your jurisdiction before your profile goes live. Professional information including specialties, treatment approaches, session rates, and availability. This information is displayed on your public profile visible to clients. Founding member tier and pricing information, tied to your license number to prevent discount abuse. Subscription and payment information processed through Stripe. Background information provided during onboarding. We do not conduct criminal background checks but may display verification status on your profile if you choose to complete optional verification. You control what appears on your public profile through your dashboard settings.

For clients using our platform, we collect and process additional information: Intake questionnaire responses including concerns, preferences, budget, and therapy history. These responses are used solely for matching purposes and are not displayed publicly. Match results and scores. We store your match history so you can review past and current matches. Consultation notes you provide when booking. These are shared only with the matched therapist. Session booking details including dates, times, and modality preferences. We do not collect or store any clinical records, therapy notes, or treatment plans. Truer Therapy is a matching platform, not a healthcare provider. Any clinical information shared between you and your therapist is outside our platform.

Truer Therapy is a matching and scheduling platform. We are not a healthcare provider, do not provide medical advice, and do not employ or contract with therapists listed on our platform. Therapists on Truer Therapy are independent practitioners. We facilitate the connection between clients and therapists but are not responsible for the therapy services provided. Our role is limited to: Verifying therapist credentials and licenses. Matching clients to therapists based on questionnaire responses. Providing scheduling and communication tools. Processing platform subscription payments. We comply with applicable health information privacy laws in each jurisdiction. In the United States, while we are not a HIPAA-covered entity, we voluntarily follow HIPAA-aligned security practices for any health-related information collected during the intake process.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or platform features. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. We will also update the Last Updated date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Truer Therapy after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
